So.....how about that racism.

An incident happened the other day while hanging out with a few other posse members that just completely turned me off.

It's one thing to make fun of stereotypes but to actually insult a race/gender/sexual orientation itself is a whole other deal.

If the first thing you say upon entering a room is, "Hey, look I'm a n****r, hey my character is a n*****r!" Then that just says a lot about you. And to have everyone else in the room to laugh and chime says a lot about the posse as well.

I'm not sure if this is the kind of image that the Wild Bunch is going to have but if it is then that's cool, I'll find another posse.

This topic isn't meant to start a flame ware or an argument. I was just extremely surprised and put off that the Wild Bunch had members with this kind of mindset. And just wondering if Floppay or the other members think this kind of thing cool.

But talking like that just to be a clown is incredibly childish. The posse definitely doesn't find it "cool".

Personally i have no issue with this. Its a game. If people want to run round shouting "I'm a nigger" and what not then let them.

At the end of the day the "mute" button is there for a reason and should be used.

If you don't want to play with someone like this then don't. I mean i wouldn't tarnish the whole posse with the same brush.

But if you want equality then i don't want anyone running round shouting:

"I'm a crazy mexican! My character looks yellow in some light. My Donkey is a right ass"

I could carry on and on but I'm sure you get my point. But if you want to talk Racism then let me ask you this.

Why do people only give 2 shits when the racism is about black people?

However, Any direct racial assalt at any single 1 member should not be accepted to the point in which it should get a member banned.

First off, from what I know, most of the Posse does not agree to this behavior, so you don't have to leave because a handful of members were being obnoxious.

Second, as one of those obnoxious members, I feel I owe you an apology. I could type out a long rant on why I act as I do and am fine with it, but that would matter little, since nothing excuses me from doing, or saying, anything that you, or other Posse members, might find morally offensive. I'm not racist, sexist, or anything of the sort, and I'm sorry if my actions have led anyone to think otherwise, even worse if I greatly offended someone.

However, I might as well say this right now: I do love taking cracks at others', and occasionally my own, expense. And while I am sincerely sorry I actually offended someone, I won't stop being myself because someone doesn't like it. However, I will try to keep such comments from those who take offense, and The Bunch as a whole.

Flop: If you feel you gotta do something against this sort of thing, go ahead. Might as well make an example now, than have this get further out of hand.

While I see where you're coming from, I wouldn't think I'd have to mute another member of the posse, I shouldn't. We're going to be playing the same games with the same people. Doing that makes problems for other posse members inside a game, when Andy and Dick can't use team work because one has the other muted.

Me, personally. I crack jokes, a lot. And I do make racial/gender/sexual orientation jokes. Everyone does, I want to say it's human nature? At the same time there's certain things I won't say or do with people I've only known for a few hours/weeks. But that is just the way I work.

I don't give two shits because the racism is about black people, I give two shits because its racism. If whatever person was saying, "Hey, look! I'm a spic!" Or "Hey, look! I'm a chink!" I'd be writing the same topic regardless.

Pretty much the same thing as the second part of the post. It wasn't the fact that he made a racist joke, everyone cracks. It was the way in which he used it, meaning you can tell the intention of a joke by the tone/presentation. But taking semantics would be very hypocritical. Hell, maybe I've being oversensitive and just reading into something that's not there.

I didn't name names because I didn't want this thing blown out of proportion. And because of my strict, "Stop snitchin." policy. Loony wasn't the one that offended and is to cool to be touched anyway.

I reiterate, this topic wasn't made with the intention to flame, argue, offended, w/e.

i understand where your coming from, but you have to accecpt the fact that some people have an online persona that they put on. if it makes you feel any better the person that was sayin those things is probably so afraid of his own shadow that they dont get out much. they also think theres no way of finding out who they are so they do what they want with no regard to anyone.

i definately feel the same way about racsicm in this posse, i think that no one in the posse has the right to say that kind of stuff even if they are anoyed or whatever. if its a light hearted joke or something thats cool but when you get to the point of racial slurs just cause you think its funny or cool then you need to get the fuck out. the fact is that we have a diverse group of people playing here so that stuff just cant fly. and doodle you cant just mute these guys cause then whats the point of being in that posse when that kind of stuff is being allowed by the rest of the guys, and come on lets not make this an issue of 'oh its only a problem cause they were talking about black people', thats not the case man, the problem is cause some dick felt the need to take a joke too far just to get attention. im on these forums alot and i havent seen any of this stuff so i definately dont thinks its a problem here, but if anyone were to play online with me and start that shit, that would be the last game i played with that person and any other guys who thought that was cool.

Of course people are gonna act like that, especially on XBox Live and PSN, but when it is other members of the posse it is disappointing and does make one wonder if they want to be associated online with a group who condones it. I make jokes dealing with racism and sexism to, but it is always to parody existing stereotypes. While it may be difficult to display sarcasm or place irony on a statement when posting in a forum, I have seen posts like this from others saying things like "stupid faggots" with what seemed like real disgust. I think that this is incredibly off putting and made me instantly dislike that member of the posse, which I do not want as I wanted this to be a close community who enjoys playing online with each other. Loony, I really respect you for apologizing, good on you.

Here's to hoping that nobody in the posse is a douche. If so they should be banned, just a suggestion.

Well I'm not exactly sure, but I think the guy that pissed you off is above me ^. Anyways, I dont really find it too annoying as I also crack jokes on an occasion (mostly at my own race though). If this does become a problem something should be done with that member because I have seen racist jokes spread to other people as they think it is completely alright to make those kind of jokes because someone else is too. I know where your coming from Duskbed, my friends IRL make jokes at me, then everyone else does too and it gets so annoying to the point I WILL punch them in the face.

Either way, I hope whatever happened here is cleaned out, and won't keep us from playing together on PSN.

And I do agree that people who make it their point to annoy and offend others should be banned, however, I think this warning is enough to those of us who were just cracking jokes, as I really doubt Flacracker is racist to any degree.

We dont condone SERIOUS racism but there will be JOKES about ALL races im sure. I throw slurs around purely as jokes but I do not single out one race from another.

I am not racist nor will every be BUT that being said we need not be childish and act stupid about it even if we are joking.

Also we all should be mindful of others, especially if it offends them.

I have a real problem with black people and pakistani/indian people pulling out the race when ever anything is said. i have a black friend and we regularly says things to eachother that are racist including'nigga' and 'honkie' but i dont care and neither does he.

Another thing i Black people-apart from lennie henry- are onoly funny when talking about white people being racist, so really you owe us white people.

I think it's safe to say that racism in any form is not condoned in the WB. We understand that jokes are made, stereotypes are part of being human and will come up, and boys playing games in which we shoot each other and testosterone is bubbling will say crass and or highly non PC things.

But to know when to stop and respect our members and listen to them if they are offended is an important part of keeping this posse thriving.

Let's all keep that mutual respect going.
