I keep on getting an e-mail whenever anyone replies to a topic I have posted on, perhaps disable this and have the User decide to subcribe to a topic or not?

Yeah, the default for the checkbox "Notify me when a reply is posted" should be unchecked, not checked.

Just change it in your preferences in the Profile option of the forum. You may also want to enable HTML and Signatures whilst your there.

Well depends if the Board Controls allow it in general. But just means you can center your signatures, etc using < center> commands, etc
